More Manufacturers Are Tapping Into the Communication Power of Social Media

Social_Media_MarketingToday, more and more manufacturers from just about every industry are incorporating the use of social media in their marketing programs. It’s easy to find examples of manufacturers who are marketing directly to consumers using social media, including food and beverage companies, car manufacturers, electronics retailers, etc.  But, B2B manufacturers are also using social media for business and tapping into its communication power – including us!

Social media has literally transformed how everyone communicates today. In business, it’s being used as a customer service tool, to build better relationships with customers and employees. Social media has improved business communication on a global scale, too, by connecting and increasing interaction with everyone who is participating, wherever they may be in the world.

Sometimes people forget that in both the B2C and B2B marketing arenas, customers are people, and these individuals have the desire to connect and build relationships with other people and companies through social media. This is a fact that’s easily proven by the popularity of social media today. According to a report from eMarketer, one in four people around the world used social networks in 2013 and that equals 1.73 billion people! Customers, wherever they work, want to be able to reach and to build relationships with people at the companies they buy from – it’s what’s expected today, and social media lets them do that.

In his book Digital Leader, Erik Qualman, founder of Socialnomics, writes, “Historically, it would be tough as a customer to have a relationship with a company. With social and mobile technologies, however, staying connected and getting in touch with someone at a company or establishment is easier than ever before… Now that customers know they have this option, they more readily demand it.”

At Stern Industries, we’re tapping into the communication power of social media to build relationships with our customers and with prospective customers from all industries.
